One of the best things about this lifestyle is that the view from our home is constantly changing. I have to say that the view we had from our windshield this past 17 days has been the best. Let me catch you up.
We left Ontario to pick up the motorhome at the dealership. The yearly maintenance work was done but not the warranty issues. Of course approval had to come from Winnebago and the parts needed to be ordered. Not a biggy. Remember, I am now going with the flow. So off we go to Aguanga CA. No one knows where Aguanga is so let me give you a little background. Aguanga is about 15 miles east of Temecula. It is a tiny little town (if you want to call it that) that basically has a closet sized post office, a tiny store, and of course Rancho California RV Resort. The park was okay as a whole but our site was at the top of a mesa that overlooked the rest of the park and the surrounding area. It was wonderful. What wasn’t wonderful was the fact that if you needed civilization you had to drive into Temecula along this windy mountain road. And of course there was no Anytime Fitness in Temecula so we needed to drive even further for that. But the view and the quiet made it all worth it.
While in Aguanga we got in some golf. The best was at the Pechanga Indian Reservation Resort. Some of you have seen the Facebook postings but for those that have not, let me tell you about their signature hole. Number 6 is high up the mountain for the white tee box. Take a look:
Someone told us that you had to hit a shot that would carry 200 yards in the air to make the fairway. Now this is something that I don’t normally do but I just had to try. Even though it isn’t my tee box, I go to the very front of the box and let it rip. Rats! It came up short. Of course Kean kills it and it goes well down the fairway. So we enjoyed the course and decided to play a second time the next week. So I get up to #6 again, determined I was going to hit the fairway. I let it rip with everything I had to give and Yahoo!! I made it. It went 201 yards and I was a happy camper, dancing around like a fool. The couple we were playing with probably thought I was crazy but what the heck. Kean’s shot that time landed in the bunker and of course from that height it was buried. It was a fun course to play because of the fact that sometimes it was flat lands and sometimes in the mountains. Definitely a challenge.
Kean had a mountain trail from the RV park for biking so he was happy. Here is a view from the trail:
From Aguanga we did a day trip into the San Diego area to check out our next two RV parks and to have lunch with Kean’s sister, Karyn. We met at Cafe merlot, a quaint little winery in Poway. I have to tell you that I am amazed at the number of wineries around these parts. For some reason I had the idea in my head that the Napa/Sonoma area was the place for all the wineries. That is not the cases. Temecula has tons. Here is a peak at Cafe Merlot. Doesn’t Kean looked kicked back and relaxed? Ahh, retirement!
So now we are back in Indio at that fabulous resort we stayed at last time. We have a water view this time. Temperature is in the 80’s and spring has sprung. I have to tell you — it is beautiful. Kean is off with his brother, Kevin, to meet his cousin, Scott, and Scott’s son, Sawyer, for a week of skiing at Lake Tahoe. And I have a week to spoil myself with girl stuff and to hang with Kean’s parents, John & Grete.
Take care all and I am wishing you all an early spring wherever you are.
