I’ve heard the comments — “Where are the posts?” I am so glad that you guys are looking forward to them. We have been so busy since coming west that I haven’t gotten into the rhythm of sitting down to write. I used to do it on Sunday but football has gotten in the way. I won’t have that excuse much longer.

Well I believe I left you while we were in Indio CA at that marvelous resort. The photo above was shot at the resort. One morning we look out the window and all these balloons were going up not far away. Now we have seen one or two balloons a day the entire time we were out there but what happened that morning was truly a sight to see. Check it out:

It was amazing to see. And they didn’t float up high like they usually do. They just kept low and put on a fantastic show for all that were up early enough to see. I love this life!! You never know what you are going to see.

Also while were out in the desert, we had to hang a rack in Kean’s brother’s garage like we had in our garage in Virginia Beach for the top to the jeep. He was kind enough to let us store it there during the warmer months which will allow us to use the soft top. Those of you that know us understand that we always have a project going so this was nothing new.  In the meantime, Kean decided to take his nephews car for a little spin.

The next stop on our journey was a quick visit to get an oil change. We thought it was going to be an easy enough thing but as you might have already guessed — nothing is easy when you are driving 43 ft down the road. We got to the Freightliner service place and wouldn’t you know it, they don’t service motorhomes. Ugh! Now keep in mind, we had called ahead for an appointment, told them we had a motorhome and was told they don’t take appointments to just come in. Well they referred us to their sister company down the road and got the work done there. That was just a small bump in the road. The stress came later that day when we needed to pick our home back up and get up the very busy California highway to our RV park before dark. (We had always told ourselves that we would not drive in the dark nor try to maneuver the motorhome into a campground after dark.) We went back to the service place at 3:30 and was told it would be about another half hour. The half hour turned into much more and we finally left around 5 PM with the sun quickly setting behind us. We got onto the highway and it was moving but slowly. We got to our destination, Yucaipa Regional Park, and it was dark. Now this was a place that we had never been to and there were no lights in the park. We SLOWLY found our way to the site. I got Kean backed into the site with a flashlight without any damage. Thankfully the park was nearly empty. The next bump was that the site was not very level. We had to use those handy wooden ramps that Kean made back on Maine. All of this by flashlight, mind you. Fun times.

Well Yucaipa Regional Park was a treat. Nothing like the resort but like I said, nearly empty and the sites were widely spaced so you felt like you were out there alone. And it had beautiful views of the mountains. It was dark and quiet and peaceful. A great place to unwind for the week. There were great trails from the campground right up into the mountains. Kean biked them and we hiked.

It was a good week.  From there we took off to drop the motorhome for some warranty work.  Can you believe we have had this almost a full year already?  Wow, time flies by.  So now we are currently in Ontario CA waiting to pick up our home and hanging out in a hotel.  While we are here we did a road trip to Beverly Hills and a walk down Rodeo Drive.  I just had to see it.

We also did a trip up to Big Bear Lake for lunch which was fun.  And the best part of being here is that our niece who lives in nearby Claremont cooked us a wonderful dinner.  Who knew that this 20 yr old college student was such a good cook?   We are so proud of you!

Well now our plan is to pick up the motorhome tomorrow but as we have learned, life doesn’t operate on our plan.  We might be hanging out here a little longer.  Who knows?  I do have to tell you — this lifetime planner is finally learning to go with the flow.

Enjoy the big game everyone!
