Winter, who needs winter? We continue to escape the cold by staying in the southwest. But I guess it wasn’t much of a winter for most out there this year. Many days we saw it cooler out here than it was back in our old home town.
So I left you off while we were still in Indio California. We dragged ourselves away on February 16th. I got to tell you that it was tough. Not only leaving family but leaving the cushy place with the full kitchen, private, gorgeous backyard, and our own hot tub. We will definitely go back there again next year. Before we left we got to see Kean’s brother, Kevin, race out in Thermal where he came in first place. Here are some pics:
We are now in a regular RV park in Tucson and will be here for a month. We have been exploring the area and really like what we see. The weather is wonderful, not a lot of traffic, affordable, and so much to do. We haven’t hiked yet but will do so soon. We drove out to Saguaro National Park to scope it out. It is really beautiful and got to see so much of a change in the terrain as you climbed up Mt. Lemmon. Elevation went from around 2500 ft in Tucson to about 9000 ft at the top. Temperature change was about 30 degrees. It was really weird driving from desert into the snowy tree line. Here are some photos. And this one shows the people that bicycle up that mountain. Unbelievable!
There is so many places to bike here. Not only do the clubs and teams from all over the world use the mountains here to train but there are miles and miles of bike paths throughout the city. This has to be the most bike friendly place we have ever seen. In fact, Kean is out biking on the trail right now. I feel so much better with him being on a trail versus the busy streets. Now I just have to get myself out there too.
And of course we have been hitting the golf courses. We have played two rounds since getting here. One was a city course and the other was around a quarry. Fun course and beautiful sights to look at while playing.
We have a couple of more weeks left before we head up to the Phoenix area and we have so much more to see and do. I’ll keep you posted. Stay warm my friends.
What a great adventure! Have fun. Be safe. Watch out for rattlesnakes!! Hugs.
