Throughout our travels, we have experienced some extraordinary scenery from our country’s National Parks to small towns and everywhere in-between. I have taken hundreds, if not thousands of pictures. While most of them just end up taking up space stored on the computer hard drive and rarely get viewed, a few of them I feel are worth sharing as my favorites. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do. If you click on the photo it will enlarge.

Observation Point – Zion Nat’l Park, UT
May 2017
Twenty two hundred feet up from the valley floor and over four miles of hiking to get there, the views from Observation Point in Zion National Park are breathtaking. The sheer cliff faces and colorful rocks make for a great walk in the park. Oh, and then it was over four miles and twenty two hundred feet down to get back to the trailhead.

Grand Canyon Nat’l Park, AZ
April 2017
While not a photo that I shot, this is one of my favorites. While a single shot cannot do justice to the canyon’s size, Kathy captured the grandeur of the Grand Canyon with this shot. Of all the photos we took while we were there, this is by far the one!

Bell Rock – Sedona, AZ
April 2017
We took a couple of hikes in the Sedona area during our visit there. I captured this lonely flower with Bell Rock in the background. Love how the shadows of the morning sun can be seen on the flower’s pedals. I enjoy shooting up close and have many other photos like this.

The Thermal Club, Thermal, CA
February 2017
My brother Kevin likes to go fast. He is now racing a Porsche Cup Car. We were able to go out to The Thermal Club (a country club for race car fanatics) and watch him run in a race. Capturing a speeding car and keeping it in focus is a bit of challenge. This photo captures movement as he passed by my position. Will have to go out to the track more and practice this type of shooting. Oh by the way, he took first place in his class that day.

Maumelle, AK
September 2016
On our trip across country (West to East), we stayed at Maumelle Park which is a Army Corps of Engineers park. Our site was right on the Arkansas River. Watched lots of tug boats with barges moving up and down the river. But what I enjoyed was the sunsets. I was able to capture all the beautiful oranges, yellows and golds with the colors reflecting off the river.

Anacortes Marina, Anacortes, WA
August 2016
We went sailing with our very good friends, Frank and Dianah Parker. As we were getting everything ready for our day on the water, I captured Kathy enjoying the moment with the sun and a big smile on her face.

Mt. Rainier Nat’l Park, WA
July 2016
You can almost never get a bad shot of Mt. Rainier. We hiked two days up on the mountain. Beautiful clear blue skies, snow and rock made a great background for lots of photos. It was great being back on the trails of Mount Rainier National Park after over 30 years.

Hurricane Ridge, Olympic Nat’l Park, WA
July 2016
On our hike at Hurricane Ridge within Olympic National Park, we were amazed at all of the deer and how they were not intimidated by people. As we rounded a corner on the trail, we came upon this alpine meadow with many deer just hanging around letting everyone take photos. Narrowed it down to these two young bucks kick’n back.

Multnomah Falls, OR
June 2016
Drove to Multnomah Falls along the Columbia River. Hiked up to the top of the falls and found a nice secluded spot on the Multnomah Creek to practice shooting moving water with longer exposure settings. Really liked how this one turned out.

Columbia Gorge, OR
June 2016
Drove up to an overlook of the Vista House on the Columbia River to get some sunset photos. While waiting for the sun to set, a brief shower passed through providing a beautiful double rainbow.

Crater Lake Nat’l Park, OR
May 2016
On the first day trip after buying my new DSLR camera, we went to Crater Lake. At the end of May there was still lots of snow and the road around the crater was not yet fully open. This was my first selfie with the new camera.

Heavenly Lake Tahoe, CA
March 2016
Boys week at Heavenly. I went skiing with my brother Kevin, my cousin Scott and his son Sawyer. Took this panorama from the top of one of the chair lifts showing the majesty of the lake and mountains.

Motorcoach Country Club – Indio, CA
January 2016
One morning at our stay in the California desert, Kathy shouted, “look at all of the balloons”. There were dozens low in the sky and I walked around the RV resort and took photos. This was one of the last ones I shot showing only two of the balloons that were still in view.

Acadia Nat’l Park, ME
August 2015
We decided to ride our bikes on the Carriage Road throughout the park. As we passed this pond, I saw the hills in the background and the reflections in the pond. Stopped and clicked the photo.
