Ok, don’t hate us but this is the view from our front window for the next 30 days. Boy did we get lucky. We were checking in to this RV Park on NAS Whidbey Island and we saw the site we were assigned to and were disappointed. We were on a back site far from the water. The rules are that you only get a waterfront site if you are here for less than 2 weeks. Well the two guys at the desk were discussing how to fit everyone in and asked us if we wanted a pull in waterfront site. Well, hell yeah!! You didn’t have to ask me twice. So here we sit with a wonderful view of the Puget Sound and the sunsets are amazing. Life is good! WIview2 WI Sunset

So now you know where we are so let me catch you up on what has been going on with us. It has been a while since I last posted. Our final week in Oregon wasn’t anything that I really felt like sharing. I got sick with what I believe was food poisoning. A really bad 24 hours with several days after to recover. I can only guess it was bad fish at our lunch up in Seaside OR. That is definitely not something that I want to relive anytime soon.

Before that we got to spend a day with Jim & Flo Atkinson (good friends of Kean’s Mom & Dad). They treated us to lunch and a round of golf at the Portland Golf Club and we had a wonderful time. Great company on a great golf course. We are looking forward to seeing them again in January in the California desert. jim&flo

One of our day trips was to Mt. Hood which was cold and beautiful. mthood Another day to the Columbia River Gorge which wasn’t too far from our RV park so we also went there at dusk which was cool. Even got to see a double rainbow. columbiagorge Gorge RainbowOf course everyone said we had to go to the falls so we hit Latourell Falls first. latourellfalls And then the big one at Multnomah Falls which we hiked up to the top which was quite spectacular. For the 4th we were in a perfect location.  The RV park was right next to the Evergreen Air Museum and I am talking walking distance, and that is where the city of McMinnville had there fireworks display.  We picked up our camp chairs and walked a few hundred feet for a front seat to the show.  We didn’t plan that but it sure worked out nicely for us.  Fireworks

Our first trip in Washington was to Mt. St. Helens. That was interesting to see how a mountain could blow out the side and see the destruction from that eruption. Things are starting to grow back now and I guess we were there at the right time because the blooming flowers were beautiful. Take a look. mtsthelen2 Mount St Helens Path mtsthelen

So we arrived here on Saturday and got to see our good friend Dianah Black-Parker who came over last night. It had been a few years so it was good to see her again. Her and her husband Frank (who we saw back at Pt. Hueneme CA) live up here now. That is the most fun about the traveling around is that we get to visit with people that we know all across the country. Fun times!

Hi Marcia. I never knew you were from here. We are enjoying it very much. I haven’t tried the Rainier cherries yet but there is a fruit stand near here that is on my radar. Take care and hopefully we can get down your way in the fall.

What a great adventure! June and I are envious. We are really enjoying your travel guide. We miss you guys! We have a new bar/grill at the end of the street. Opened last night. The
New River Tap House. You guessed it, we are all going tonight. Keep up the fun adventure and keep posting. Tip and June

Kathy & Keane, I’m enjoying you journal very much. You are definitely in “God’s Country” now. I lived in Tacoma for three years. Both kids were born there. I loved the area. I viewed Mt. Rainier from my living room window. Be sure to find some Rainier cherries while in season (now). I loved Puyallup in the Spring for the Daffodils and Tulips. So much to see and do there. I’m jealous!! ENJOY!!!
