Here we are, happily wintering in the California desert. Okay, it hasn’t been a normal winter around here because of the lower temps and lots of rain, but it sure beats the cold, snow and ice that the rest of the country is experiencing. Do you like our new digs that we rented for 2 months? Let me tell you that there is nothing better than coming off the golf course after 18 holes and being able to soak in your own hot tub. And to add to that, I have a full kitchen again. Check it out… I was able to spread out and make Christmas truffles and to have Kean’s parents over for dinners. A person can easily get used to this.
I’m sorry for the lack of posts but with being in one place since December 16, we have settled into a somewhat normal retired lifestyle. First let me tell you that the trip across country was somewhat uneventful. Our stay in San Antonio was disappointing. I had lived there in the early 90’s so I was anxious to reconnect with the area. Unfortunately, the area has grown so much that the traffic was unbearable. I hated to leave the RV park. And the drive through Houston was a nightmare. The traffic was horrible, even in the loop around the city, and drivers were the rudest I have ever seen. (Sorry if any of you are from Houston.) We got stuck in a wrong lane and could not get off at our exit and had to do the entire loop again. Definitely not a highlight of the trip and talk about stressful. Other than that we made it here safe and sound. I even drove some of the way. Here is the evidence. That’s Kean’s big ole feet up on the dashboard while I was white knuckled on the steering wheel.
We had Christmas dinner at Kean’s parents house with his sister and her family coming out to join us. It was a marvelous time. Nothing better than spending time with family during the holidays.
About a week later, Kean’s brother and family came out to their house here in the desert so we got to spend some time with them too. Kean even went to the race track with them and got to see his niece and nephew drive their carts. Kean even drove Kevin’s Porsche around the track.
Of course we have played quite a bit of golf while here. Most days the temps warm up to around 70 so I can even wear my summer golf clothes. Let me tell you that for someone that absolutely hates winter, this is glorious. And with the ability to play more, my game is getting better. Yea! And the views while playing are wonderful.
So we are here until February 16th and then we head to Tucson for a month. We are staying where it is warm until it heats up enough to start heading north. We have already planned our spring and summer and it promises to be action packed. I look forward to sharing it with you.
I know you don’t miss our winter! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy 🙂
Love the place and great photos. Enjoy your time in AZ and thanks for connecting.
